I've been invited to perform in Singapore during the inaugural Youth Olympics this August, and I'd love to offer one of my one-man plays while I'm in the region. I can't get to Singapore until 17 August, the second week of the Olympics, but I can linger after they close on the 26th. After that I'd love to offer performances in other Asian nations.

This summer I'll be co-directing The Miracle Worker with John Kirby, who has been the acting coach for Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Word of Promise Audio Bible, and on most of Jim Caviezel's films. I would love to offer an acting workshop in conjunction with a play or on its own.

I'll be coming to Kansas City to perform in a Christian movie, and I'd love to offer one of my one-man plays while I'm there.
They just told me that they'll be filming my scenes on June 10 and 11, and then I need to perform in Chicago on the 12th, so it would need to be on the 9th or earlier.

The real Al Ross
The more I hear of the story the more impressed I am with the work Katherine and Chris Craddock have done with the screenplay to heighten the drama.
My first scene was put on hold, but I'm up next.
It went well! One of the gals on set is from England and is familiar with the Scouse accent, which is what I'm using, and she was willing to sit with me and fine tune my lines.

Danny's first day on set
When I found out about For the Glory I invited all of our students and alumni to audition. There are several of us connected to MasterWorks that have been cast:
I direct the MasterWorks theatre program, and I'm playing Coach Sean Ryan.
Danny Cornett is attending MasterWorks for the third time this summer, starting in about a month. He was cast as Robby, the life-long friend of the main character, the future Olympic--then pro--soccer player, Kurt Kuykendall (www.Blog.RichDrama.com 5/15).
Alistair Sewell is the brother of two MasterWorks theatre alum, Anna and Lydia. Though Alistair's not old enough for the program--yet--he played the role of Wally Webb in our production of Our Town last year. He's playing Young Robby.
Danny's neice, Audrey Cornett, is coming back for her second season of Masterworks. She and her younger sister Ashley (a future MasterWorks student, I hope) will be playing cheerleaders next week.
Adina Kory, who attended the theatre program in '07 and was in the MasterWorks dance program before that, will fly in from Israel for a wedding in time to be a soccer fan in the film.
Connected For the Glory
Over lunch I heard the story of how this film was green-lighted:
Chris and Nancy Rogers run CDR Communications, Inc., and they brought Donald (pictured here) and Sandra Leow over from Singapore to work on some projects. When they first got to the States, the Leows actually lived in this house where we're currently setting up for the next shot.
When it came time to buy a house they chose Kurt Kuykendahl to be their realtor. Kurt told them about his church, The King's Chapel, where Donald met Katherine and Chris Craddock, who'd been shopping their screenplay about Kurt Kuykendahl.

My character isn't on today's call sheet, but one of the characters mocks my character's Scouse (Liverpool) accent. I'm here to make sure we're on the same page with the dialect.
It's great to be on set day one and be there for our director's opening speech and prayer. He said that if any of the cast and crew shares his Christian faith that he wants to talk to them, but if they don't then he really wants to talk to them.

In this short film Rich plays the role of a father who has lost touch with his daughter. Joyce served on crew and played the wife of Rich's character offscreen in a sociodrama to help their 22nd screen child prepare for an emotional scene.

A casual match with a pro
The film tells how Kurt got to play soccer for the Olympics. He went on to play pro for two US teams and three teams in England.
After our cast dinner Danny and I went to watch Kurt play a game. His team was made of members of The King's Chapel, the church that is producing For the Glory. It included Kurt's wife, at least one of their kids, and our screenwriters. They beat the other team soundly. I lost track of the score, but it was approaching 10 to zero.
