Good Friday

Joyce pulled together artwork from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and we gave voice to the images to tell the story of Good Friday to Westchester Chapel

Pray that many are moved closer to the Lord and into relationship with Him if they don't know Him yet.

Declare God's Salvation

Joyce opens with Communion, referring to Jesus Revolution. I give testimony centering on the Asbury Outpouring of Feb. 2023

Rachel Taylor presents a message from 2 Peter: 3: 15, with a focus on the first part of verse 15, as she continues the series "What Happens When a Created People Walk Away From Their Creator?" She also refers to Jesus Revolution.

The Magi Worship Jesus

Westchester Chapel celebrated Epiphany today, and Joyce calls us to worship as the magi did in this message from Matthew 2:1-12. I have to say, this is a really special message! I know you're going to be blessed!

She shared "The New King" from my Christmas play "Views of the Manger," as filmed at Butler (NJ) Church of the Nazarene. It will be available for one week:

The Christmas Story

I got to read part of the Christmas story (Luke 1:26-35 and Luke 2:1-7) to Westchester Chapel this morning, just before Dr. Linda Warren brought the Christmas message -- Make Room for the Lord -- from Luke 2:1-7

Get to the Goal!

This morning at Westchester Chapel Joyce taught on 2 Peter 1:10-11, and she opened this mission critical message with some humorous clips of some athletes who didn't quite get to the goal.

When the Intercessor Acts

I'm catching up on a couple of Joyce's offerings, and they happen to make a nice pair. The first is an article she wrote for Intercessors for America's publication The Connector. It's titled, "When the Intercessor Acts," and it was written before Roe v. Wade was abolished.

The second is her message at Westchester Chapel the Sunday after our intercession was answered and Roe fell. She titled it "Stay Aware with Prayer," and she opens by rejoicing over this great answer to our prayers.

She exhorts listeners to stay aware from 1 Peter 5: 8-11 in the continuation of our series "What Happens When a Created People Walk Away From Their Creator?"

A Greek Perspective on the Church of Thessalonica

For our Wednesday night study of 1 Thessalonians, I shared an interview I did with Rev. Panagiotis Kantartzis, who pastors the First Evangelical Church of Athens, Greece, and is the author of A Christian’s Pocket Guide to Eastern Orthodox Theology: An Evangelical Perspective. He grew up an hour from Thessaloniki, which is where Paul wrote his letters to the Thessalonians. Pastor Kantartzis shares insights from his own experience and studies.

Be a Happy Host, not a Grouch!

Joyce continues Westchester Chapel's series on "What Happens When a Created People Walk Away From their Creator?" with a message on hospitality from 1 Peter 4:9.  She mentions Luke 9:26, Matthew 24: 4-14, Exodus 24: 1-11, Psalm 23, Hebrews 13: 1-3 and Matthew 10:40-42.  I got to share a funny story, and she includes an excerpt from The Adventum 4.

The Love of the Cross

A blessed Good Friday to you and yours.

At Westchester Chapel, Eva P.  leads the congregation into contemplation of the horror of sin and the Love of the Cross.  I do a dramatic reading from Mark 15: 1-39 and Rev. 22:12-19.  Eva refers to this artwork by her sister Noemi Cordero.

Welcome the King of Glory!

It was a busy Holy Week for us, so I'm a bit late on this but wanted to post it as a way of keeping our minds on Who the Lord is.

Joyce encourages all to welcome the King of Glory in this Palm Sunday message from Psalm 24 at Westchester Chapel. Elizabeth S., Eva P. and Pastor Randy Solomon share testimonies within the context of the message.

Submit to Injustice as Christ

Joyce continues the Westchester Chapel series "What Happens When a Created People Walk Away From Their Creator?" with a message from 1 Peter 2: 18-23. We are probing 1 Peter to find keys to avoid walking away from the Lord.  Joyce mentions an article she wrote on The Rise of the Lesser Magistrates.

Christmas' True Meaning: Pictures of Courage

Joyce presents Part II of her Christmas message with pictures of servants from the gospels of Luke 1:26-56 and Matthew 1:18-25 who rallied to the Lord's mission to seek and save the lost.  Joyce also cites John 10:15-18.

Revel in the Lord!

Joyce invites us to revel in the Lord as she leads us through Isaiah 61:10-11. I read Isaiah 61.

This was a part of this morning's service at Westchester Chapel.

The Story that Connected Rich and Joyce

Dr. Linda Warren tells a story that sets up the story of Joyce and myself. The personal epiphany she explains as she unpacks Isaiah 61:1-4 happened not long before she became Joyce's boss at Sports Illustrated in the early 90s. If what you're about to hear hadn't happened, I might never have met Joyce, or if we would have met we most likely wouldn't have had 23 years of wedded bliss and counting.

Pastor Jim Warren opens the service at Westchester Chapel with Psalm 103. Pastor Rachel Taylor prays over the service.

Several from Westchester Chapel visited Nazareth Village while performing and teaching in Jordan and Israel in 2011. They have a synagogue set up as it likely was in Jesus' day, and the scroll of Isaiah is unrolled to Chapter 61.
