John the Baptist in Airship Genesis Mobile Game

That's from the Airship Genesis Mobile Game, and recently I performed the voice of John the Baptist for it.

It was pretty cool, because in 2011 I got to play him baptising Jesus... about 100m from a church dedicated to that event!

The day after I played John the Baptist for the mobile game I was reading through Farm Boy on Times Square, the journal I kept when I first arrived in NYC in 1993, and found this entry:
When John the Baptist came to prepare the way for Christ, he was a voice, crying in the wilderness.  He was for them, a modern-day prophet.  The people related to that image.  It was familiar.  Society in NYC, and in America in general, is so individualistic, that it seems to me personal messages are the only ones received well.
The mobile game is quite fun and challenging! My "scene" is on level 11.

I Dreamed I Was Free tells the story of Quaker abolitionist John Woolman, who spoke against slavery a century before our Civil War.

The Lamb's Church

The Lamb's Church/Theatre/Center for the Homeless is where I lived the first four years that I was in New York, and I performed there for the church, theatre patrons, and the homeless, whom I served meals at least once a week.

One of my favorite performances was when I put on A Clear Leading for the homeless clients. When I was portraying the racist characters they would boo, and when I switched to abolitionist John Woolman they would cheer! Exhilarating: especially since I knew them well enough to trust that they wouldn't beat me up while I was a character praising slavery!

Am I ever grateful for this place! May the Church of the Nazarene continue to help bodies and souls around the globe! I think we're in about 135 nations right now, and many of those that serve the needy are led by people who interned here.

When I first arrived in 1993 I kept a journal that preceded this blog entitled "Farm Boy on Times Square." You can read the first two entries here.

The Family Farm

I exchanged this view for a brick wall.

Some day when I have time I'll post the journal I kept when I moved to New York: "Farm Boy on Times Square."
